She also would like to be involved with health policy work as a community advocate in order to improve health outcomes across our society. Other Activities Involved In: Research assistant at the Lifestyle Redesign for Chronic Conditions Lab (LRCC) under USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, volunteer at the Orthopaedic Institute for Children, member of Trojan Health Volunteers (USC JEP) What has been Anya's favorite Keck class and why? Anya's favorite Keck class is HP 320: The Biological and Behavioral Basis of Disease. This class emphasized root cause analysis, which traced health issues in communities to their ultimate causes- which were usually social injustice and legislative failings. Too often, we are taught to blame health problems on biology or genetics, rather than looking at other factors. Anya feels that learning to approach problems this way this has prepared her to truly address and improve health disparities in our society. What is the best piece of advice Anya has received? Although it is cheesy, the best advice Anya has ever received is: as long as you can say you have done your best, everything else will fall into place. Anya received this advice from her parents many years ago, and to this day, it is what drives her to do her best and not worry about the rest. |
