Spanish Minor Hometown: San Jose, CA Career Goals: Elizabeth aspires to become a health education specialist or epidemiologist that focuses on maternal and child health among Latinx communities because she is passionate about helping mothers and young children achieve better health outcomes. Other Activities involved in: Vice President of Community Health Involvement Project; Secretary for Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc., Student Athlete Academic Services Tutor; Junior Product Manager and Web Developer for METRANS Transportation Center What has been Elizabeth's favorite class and why? Elizabeth's favorite Keck class is HP 408: Environmental Health because this was an eye-opening course that discussed public health through an environmental lens, which has allowed her to better recognize environmental racism and inequity in communities and want to take an active stand to ensure environmental justice. What has been the most rewarding part of being a Keck student? For Elizabeth, the most rewarding part of being a Keck student is being able to interact and learn from some of the leading researchers and faculty in the world of public health and global health. Many of her Keck professors have been active in researching pressing health disparities and making change on a global scale. She is inspired to be surrounded by so many influential and intelligent faculty that support her as a student and aspiring healthcare professional, as well as trying to positively impact communities in Los Angeles and beyond. |
